Ultrasonic Blanketweed control
A relatively new concept in algae control will deal with problematic blanket weed in garden ponds.
This ultrasonic device is guaranteed to kill off all blanket weed and maintain the water all year round. The Device works by producing high frequency ultrasonic sound waves - Totally harmless to fish, mammals and inverterbrates- The sound waves disrupt the cell structure in filamentous algae. Blanket weed (filamentous algae) is killed in about two weeks and is easily removed from the pond as it floats on the surface.
Continued use will guarantee blanket weed will not return to your pond.
The device comprises of two parts. The control box and the emitter. The emitter produces sound wave to cover an arc of 180° from the front of the unit. Sound waves don't go round corners very well so the emitter should be placed to give the best coverage of as much of the pond as possible. The emitter is placed in the water and the control box in a suitable dry location.
The coverage of the emitter is best described in the diagrams below. In some cases it may be necessary to move the emitter to a different location in the pond as necessary.
The blue line indicates the path of ultrasonic sound from the emitter.
A continuous and reuseable weapon against high nitrate levels and Blanketweed.
The unique nitrate selective ion exchange resin which removes nitrate at all levels of concentration.
No other compounds which could alter the pH level ( like calcium sulphate) are removed. This in comparison to other well known nitrate resins. The mode of operation is ion exchange, nitrate ions are exchanged for harmless chloride ions within the resin.
This product does not contain an algicde.
It contains a special chelating agent which binds nutrients and compounds including metallic residues in the water and makes them accessible only to water plants as micronutrients. The action of the chelating agent means it dissolves the chalk skeleton of the blanket weed causing it to decay. Phosphate levels do increase with the use of Alg-Stop, this occurs because of the binding of many chemical compounds, this is not harmful to the fish, and is a nutrient available to water plants but not to algae and blanket weed.
Alg-Stop cannot be overdosed and is harmless to fish and plants as it does not contain algicides or biocides.
