This chart is a guide as to what size UV to install on ponds with a volume of up to 10,000 gallons.
The tree symbols indicate Full shade, Partial shade or no shade and the fish symbols indicate fish stocking levels in the pond. For heavily stocked ponds or ponds larger than 10,000 gallons or if you want germicidal UV levels the Pro Pond and UV+ equipment should be considered.

At the heart of each Pro Clear Advantage unit is an ultraviolet lamp sealed inside a quartz sleeve. As water is pumped through the unit, ultraviolet light from the lamp destroys the algae, leaving the water clear.

Green water in ponds is caused by algae, microscopic single celled plants which will thrive in the water conditions produced in a fish pond. All ponds with fish require biological filtration but the main by-product from the filter is nitrate, not harmful to fish, but an excellent food for plants. So the algae thrive and the water turns green. Getting the water clear again requires the installation of a correctly sized Ultra Violet clarifyer. Allow 10 watts per 1000 gallons (4500L)

To ensure unrestricted flow, it is recommended that the unit is not plumbed in with anything less than 11/2" pipework.
