ALFAGROG in not a by-product, it is made from certain clays and the baking process sinters it, that is, it produces a product with literally millions of tiny hole which are all available to bacteria to colonise. This gives alfagrog an enormous surface area which is why it is one of the popular biological filter media available. Easier to handle when packed in media bags.

FLOCOR RS a plastic corrugated tube which has an open structure allowing good water circulation in and around the randomly packed media when installed in a multibay biological filter or trickle filter. This ensures the entire surface of the media can be colonised by nitrifying bacteria.
An additional feature of this media is its ability to settle suspended particle out of the water column. The random distribution causes the water to change direction as it passes through each piece, this creates laminar flow causing particles to drop out of suspension and settle into the media itself.

FLOCOR RM is a smaller version of RS this means more of it can be packed into the same space but it gives a bigger and therefore more effective surface area in the same volume.

Foam Cube coarse grade foam drilled most of the way through the center used for a final polish can be made into manifolds using waste pipe fittings and foam inserts.
Foam Insert a short perforated tube designed to fit inside the drilled foam cube to allow maximum water circulation through and around the foam. It will glue into the socket of 43mm waste pipe fittings and as such this allows different sizes of manifolds to be assembled to suit various water flow capacities.
